The estimates of the repair of automobiles may be called different things, including, damage report, or several other names, but they are all basically the same. However, it is more than just a piece of paper stating the total cost of the repairs on them. This is a contract or agreement between two people. Agree exactly like real estate, the owner and the buyer has a price and sign a contract for their approval. A damage estimate is in the same way in many respects, because there is an agreement between the shop and the customer and the customer needs the agreement to allow the shop, should be signed to repair the vehicle.

One thing that you need to get to the customer, which is often misunderstood to explain is that the sum is only an estimate. They do not guarantee complete the exact amount of the invoice. It can be hidden damage, or many other factors to change before the car is to be complete. As an estimator, it is your job, excellent communication with the customers. You have to let them know that the estimate is subject to hidden damage. You should also understand that the estimate or agreement only applies to items that are written on the sheet repair. If no additional work is required, you must contact the client and some on the new amount. This is as a supplement, which may be necessary with additional parts or labor.

We will write to all estimates of repairing cars by hand with the leader Estimate Mitchell. It was written on a sheet of all the damage and looking for guidance in all parts prices and labor required to assess the work. Computer-generated sheets have simplified management and estimates by hand, but to learn to be able to estimate, I think it is important to learn the basics first of all, this requires the estimation leaders estimate virgin and a pen. Learning to estimate the handwriting is the foundation to be an efficient estimator. Just as every house or building must have a solid base, an estimator to master the basics first.

Most of the leaders and IT systems are defined with the same order. From the front bumper cover and ending with the rear bumper. It will be important to know that you write to the estimate in the same order to write a clean sheet. For example, if you write an estimate on a car, the damage to the front end, with the front bumper and move to the back of the car to start a part at a time. Bumpers, grille, front right fender, etc. If you use the guide now, it is easy to follow in order to add the cost of labor and time.

Each business will need someone to write the estimates for customers. Some stores have more of an estimator. Insurance needs the help of estimators. If you are writing for an insurance company garage working on estimates of the title of your car may or expert estimates of automobiles.

Worry about whether or not you were overcharged for the repairs is your car’s a terrible feeling. There are tons of tips on how to avoid cracking, but few address the actual prices of automotive repair. We need to determine the real cost of a car repair estimate or auto repair invoice, whether we are looking to pay too much.

The focus should move to outdated and ineffective advice to give justice to the specific charges. Are they legitimate charges? Can they be justified by industry guidelines?

Now car repair estimates can be confusing. So they can break to get a better idea if your auto repair shop is to charge accordingly.

First, a glossary of terms, how in the automotive industry has a unique language …

Replacement parts: Parts that are not by or for the manufacturer.

MSRP: Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price

OEM: Original Equipment Manufacturer. Manufacturer exhibition designed specifically approved for your vehicle.

TSB: Technical Service Bulletins. Information and instructions of the manufacturer for known and specific concerns (they are not remembered) made available.

Fixed rate services such as alignments that is not broken down into two parts, tax, labor

Other costs: These may include but are not limited to shop supplies – rags, chemicals, hazardous waste disposal fees, waste oil … etc.

Participation rate: Hourly rate for a service center for the maintenance of your vehicle

Working hours: the time or hour found that it takes to repair your vehicle

Description of work: Step by step written details of repairs and / or services

Ok look, let’s get to the anatomy of an auto repair estimates:

There are six basic components to a car repair estimate

1) Customer / Vehicle Information

2) Parts

3) Work

4) Other expenses

5) Cost of meals

6) Summary of Charges

Customer and vehicle information
The use of a generic “top down” style estimate, the upper portion simply contains your personal data and the specifics of your vehicle: year, make, model, mileage … etc., as well as your concern.

We want to find the employment rates of the shop. This is essential to determine whether you have paid too much. Most repair centers do not mention the participation rate. We will discuss this shortly.

Auto Parts
The parts are usually listed with a brief description and the quantity and price. There are three types of parts: OEM (parts by or made for a manufacturer). These are the parts installed by a dealer, although many local shops use OEM parts too.

Spare parts are not original parts, and there are varying degrees of quality depending on the brand and where they are made – China versus the United States, for example.

Then there are Used parts purchased from a junkyard.

To determine whether you have paid too much for parts, first know what kind of parts are used. With Genuine Parts, you do not want to pay more than MSRP, although most people do without knowing it. Premium parts are the same price range between brands, but be careful not over MSRP, the pay back, to do a lot of people. Price of the parts used are all over the place, then select the price in the middle.

Auto Repair

The work is placed in tenths of a second charge. Sun 1.0 is 1 hour. 1.5 corresponds to half past one.
Laboratory vary from $ 60 to $ 100 per hour at local repair shops and $ 80 to $ 140 per hour at the dealer level. Working outside the guidelines of the industry who are abused often established.

If you see does not appear, the rate of work in the shop car repair bill, ask your service center for the speed. Workshops can manipulate the participation rate (among others) with a matrix of work. Matrix pricing is a complicated and ethically questionable discussed practice in the literature Repair Trust. What you should know is that you pay as high as $ 150 per hour instead of the written employment rate of $ 105 per hour.

So you want to put the number of hours in accounting (which is also often not posted) to see the speed of the work in the workshop, if you have been multiply charged accordingly.

Most job descriptions are poorly written and difficult to understand. How to ask questions.

Here is the description of “clear” work for a 30,000 mile service on a Toyota Camry.

Implemented 30.000 miles on customer service and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Engine oil and filter is installed, new air filter, cabin filter and performed all necessary tests, checks, and procedures, including the road test (miles from 30.123 to 30.125). Lubrication services performed and confirmed proper vehicle operation. Adjust the tire pressure checked and fluids, belts and hoses. Note: vehicle pulling slightly to the left. The alignment must be

Other Expenses

Most of your car repair bill will be parts and labor, but we must not forget other costs. These fees may include, but are not limited to, shop supplies – rags, chemicals, hazardous waste disposal costs of waste oil … etc. The last one of them can be separately charged in a summary at the bottom of your repair bill.

Very few of these “extras” are actually used during regular repairs. Various fees do not include the number of hours billed, not calculated the quantity of various items used.

Fresh food

The fixed fee may be another sensitive area. Package prices are services such as orientation, which is in parts, tax and employment policies broken. It is therefore difficult to determine the actual price and fair. On the positive side, most flat fees are competitively priced.

But be warned, is another term for Flat Fee called Menu sale. In other words, you might see Tune Up: $ 99.99 or Transmission Flush: $ 89,99. Follow your manufacturer’s recommendations only, the menu is not a dealer or repair shop.

Maintenance costs of car

Summary of Charges

The last part of a repair estimate of the automobile is the summary of the costs. It is commonly found in the lower right corner of the invoice. Check it against the charges listed above to ensure that all adds up mathematically and logically.

This basic outline can estimate can have other categories such as “sublease” or “hazardous substances” from your particular invoice, differ.

A fee for subletting is added when you repair your auto repair shop for another supplier or repair your car, as a company, the glass of the windshield replaced used.

A load of waste oil or other hazardous materials disposal costs. Make sure the charges are justified, because again, they too are often calculated outside the employer’s actual needs.

Whatever the goal, is fantastic Auto Repair Sales Performance really very simple (not always easy, but easier). To create an excellent sales performance car repair shop, you should always do four things.

First Listen carefully to the customer and easy creation of reports and relations.
Second Ask the seller as large as possible and offer the highest quality.
Third To do the job. Quickly and correctly.
4th Lock the customer into a long-term relationship with your store, the repetition of steps one, two and three at least three times per year.

The process of building relationships does not have to take some time. You can build a strong bond with a new customer very quickly just to encourage them to talk about themselves.
Question:-What?-How? Where-How long have you lived here kind of work do you do long you have owned the car is your favorite place to leave me-tell us? Your children or pets … All these questions get the customer to talk about themselves and give you ample opportunity to identify and comment on the points of common interest or experience. None of this takes more than a few minutes, but during this process, the vital process of confidence building is done.

In the second step, the key is required to sell to the highest possible. Fear keeps most sellers to ask for the sale of large. Instead, they have to convince yourself that the customer will only accept a much lower number, a number that they (the seller) are comfortable with. That’s why I spend so much time in Class Service Writer Advanced sales training work on the issue of closure. The issue of closure is the key to overcoming fear. With him is memorized and practiced fear and grants writer service is able to apply much larger sales than ever before. I saw this tool to save more than $ 300 on average RO RO add. It is so powerful!

The first two steps are pure car-repair-sales phase. The third stage is one of the administration. The first two steps are all about the service writers control their actions. The third step requires to motivate and lead to trade someone else. The best way to do this is to MBA “management by walking around.” It simply means that one can not forget a ticket as soon as it is in the hands of technology. They must go to the store regularly (usually every 5-10 minutes on a busy day) and make sure that the work progresses. You need to quickly remove all obstacles to success such as problems with parts, bad posture or unexpected problems with the repair. This is an important and often overlooked sales auto repair.

In the fourth step, we are again for sale. The biggest missed opportunity for most companies is the ability of the client to commit their next visit while they are out of control of this visit. All you have to do is tell them where their next visit and say most people are ok. Notice I did not say, ask them if they could make their next visit, I said to tell them when their next appointment is. The key is to assume that they will come back and do the planning for this. I teach some simple techniques in Advanced Sales Training Class Service Writer to achieve this commitment very easily, simply and naturally.
